AI headlines hit futures before the Fed

US cash has not opened yet for Monday. Overnight, Nasdaq-100 futures were down about 1.2% after AI-lab chiefs called for a slower frontier-model pace and OpenAI pushed any IPO later. Wednesday’s Fed decision still sits on the calendar. The working rule does not change: hold an existing weekly trend and respect the flip, or sit in cash.

01

Soft Nasdaq futures into a projection-meeting Fed

What happened

After Friday’s bounce, weekend AI-safety commentary and an OpenAI IPO delay pressured tech-heavy futures into Monday. Nasdaq-100 futures were roughly 1.2% lower in early dealing, with S&P 500 futures softer by about 0.6% and Dow futures off around 0.4%. Oil stayed firm, and traders are still pricing a high chance of a Fed hike on Wednesday.

What it means

A futures gap into an FOMC week is a stress test for crowded AI and semiconductor betas, not a rewrite of every weekly trend by itself. Names already in long weekly trends — including Micron (MU), Bloom Energy (BE), Seagate (STX), Dell (DELL), and Siemens Energy (ENR.DE) — do not need a fresh chase into the open or into Wednesday’s statement.

Chart and trend facts

Last completed weekly scan is Sunday 13 Sep. Those prints still show the same bullish weekly cluster above flip. There is no new cash close yet for Monday morning Zurich time.

What to do

Sit in cash unless you already hold a confirmed weekly trend. Do not invent a Monday entry from overnight futures alone with the Fed two sessions away.

02

Micron still anchors the AI hardware weekly trend

What happened

The last completed weekly scan still lists Micron as one of the clearest long weekly bull trends in AI hardware. Futures weakness overnight is the new tape risk for that group; the weekly flip print has not flipped.

What it means

Soft Nasdaq futures can shake holders who bought the story instead of the flip. If MU, BE, STX, DELL, or ENR.DE are already held as confirmed weekly trends, the job is to respect the flip — not to average down into noise ahead of the Fed.

What to do

If you already hold a weekly bull trend in Micron or the related cluster, hold it and respect the flip. If you do not hold it, sit in cash. No FOMO into an AI headline gap ahead of Wednesday.

Rule of the day

holdcash

Overnight futures and a projection-meeting Fed are not a green light to chase. Hold existing weekly trends and respect the flip, or sit in cash. Protect attention for Wednesday’s statement and projections — that is when the tape updates the regime.
